Foster homes
Pound Rescue is seeking families to open their heart and homes to help foster pups/dogs and cats/kittens. Pound rescue will supply you with all the necessities needed for your new foster; we just ask that you provide TLC and a commitment to your new foster friends. Without foster homes our rescue work would not be possible.
“Since fostering I've had the opportunity to foster many magnificent wonderful dogs and cats. I am so thankful that I've have had the chance to share my home with those in need, and will continue to do so as long as I can. I've learned so much from each individual soul and have met incredible adoptive families over the years. Fostering for Pound Rescue and seeing how they carefully screen and match up adopters with foster animals, gives me the courage and strength to continue my work. ”Linda foster home for Pound Rescue
Foster Home Coordinator
Contacts foster homes weekly to get updates of the animals in their care. All updates would be then forwarded to our web designer so that the animals profile could be updated. The foster home coordinator has a master list of all the animals in foster care to ensure that vet appointments are scheduled and followed. The F.H.C. would also ensure that foster homes have all necessities, such as food, kennels and so forth.
Grant writing coordinator and helpers
Looking for those who are able to write grants and ensure that grant deadlines have been met. There are various grants available to animal welfare organizations, therefore we are looking for dedicated volunteers to help Pound Rescue apply for such grants so that we can further our education, spay/neuter and rescue endeavors.
Fundraising/Events team
Every year Pound Rescue takes part in various events such as the Pet Expo and Okotoks Parade. We are seeking volunteers to help coordinate such events, as well as help make arrangements for cruelty free fundraising events, such as pub nights, treats at the Dog Park, and bottle drives.
Donation Coordinator
Pound Rescue is very fortunate to receive various donated items such as dog food, blankets, toys and so forth. We are looking for someone to help coordinate drop off locations and arrange transport to ensure that donations are picked up.
Photographers
Pound Rescue is looking for a couple of photographers in both Okotoks and Calgary area who are able to volunteer their time to take photos of animals that are waiting to find their forever home. We are also looking for volunteers to help take photos at any of our events/fundraiser's.
Education Coordinator
Pound Rescue would like to broaden its education program as we feel the largest changes will only come with public education. We are looking for educators who are able to make arrangements with schools, cubs, brownies, girl guides to host educational events.
Volunteers with trucks, horse trailers, SUV's or vans
Pound Rescue is always in need of volunteers with vehicles to transport large donations of cat litter and food. We also need help driving animals to and from vet clinics as well as from the Blood First Nation.
Rabbit rescue team
Pound Rescue has been live trapping abandoned domestic rabbits in the Calgary area and with the help of Calgary Animal Services having them spayed or neutered and then moved to their new forever rabbit sanctuary home (20 minutes South of Calgary) We are looking for volunteers to help deliver donated produce, clean rabbit pens and transport rabbits to and from vet clinics.
Storage units
Pound Rescue is in need of a couple of storage garages in Calgary and Okotoks where we can store donated dog food, kennels and rabbit pens.
Handyman/woman
Pound Rescue would like to pilot a "Build a Dog House" project to help provide dog shelters for dogs in need. We plan to involve the community (high schools and such) so that together a larger difference is being made.
